Let’s all support The Road Home, a Dane County organization that supports homeless families with children. Continuing through Friday, January 18th, the JMM Girls Basketball Team is challenging all of us to donate items such as baby wipes, diapers, cleaning supplies, paper towels, laundry detergent, hair care products, lotions, shampoos, gift cards for groceries and gas. Just drop off your donations at the Winter Wonderland in the Main Office, Esmeralda is waiting for these goodies with open arms.
All boys interested in track and field should attend an informational meeting today at 2:40 in Room 504. The meeting includes the preseason workout requirements. See Coach Richardson if you have questions.
All sophomores interested in science, technology, engineering and/or math can apply to an exciting new program for their junior and senior year by attending Madison College. You would earn both high school and college credits in courses that prepare you for work in the STEM career fields. If you are interested be sure to contact your counselor; the application deadline is January 25th.
A reminder to Seniors that Midwest Scholastic will be here on Tuesday and Wednesday during lunch in the cafeteria to take orders for caps and gowns. If you have not yet received your graduation packet be sure to see Ms. Rachel in the Wisconsin office.
Badger Boys State will be held June 8th through June 15th in Ripon and Badger Girls State will be held June 16th through June 21st in Oshkosh. This is a government and leadership conference designed to educate on the functions of government and to develop leadership skills. This activity is open to Juniors only. If you would like to learn more be sure to visit the Boys website, www.badgerboysstate.com or the Girls website, www.badgergirlsstate.org. Memorial staff will be nominating juniors they feel are good candidates the week of January 28th. If you would like to nominate yourself to represent Memorial High School stop by Mr. Hendrickson’s office to complete a nomination form no later than February 8th. Only two girls and two boys will be selected to represent Memorial.
All JMM students looking for a one week summer internship at UW should email their counselor. The research is focused on advancing society’s understanding of the relationship between media and adolescent health. This is a FREE one week internship program from July 22nd through July 26th.
